Still Waters Run Deep

The Power of Spiritual Rest

Still Waters Run DeepScripture Focus

“He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul.”
Psalm 23:2 (NIV)

Devotional Teaching

Life moves fast—faster than our souls were designed to run. We wake up already behind, spend the day rushing, and fall asleep with our minds still spinning. Even when our bodies stop, our hearts don’t.
But God isn’t calling us to a frantic life. He’s calling us to a restored one.

The Shepherd doesn’t shout at His sheep to keep up.
He leads them.
And He leads them to one place first: still waters.

Still waters are more than quiet—they’re deep.
They represent the kind of rest that settles the spirit, clears the mind, and strengthens the heart. This is the rest Jesus invites us into when He says:

“Come to Me… and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

You don’t earn this rest.
You don’t force it.
You simply follow Him into it.

Still Waters Run DeepReflection

Where are the “noisy places” in your life right now?
Not just the external noise—but the internal whirl of worry, control, fear, or striving?

God restores the soul in the stillness we often avoid.

Ask yourself today:

  • What is God asking me to release?
  • Where do I need to slow down?
  • What noise is keeping me from hearing His voice?
  • Am I letting Him lead, or am I dragging myself through life on my own?

Still waters run deep because God meets us there.

Let Him restore what life has drained.

Prayer

Lord, lead me beside the still waters today. Quiet my mind, calm my heart, and restore what has been worn down. Help me trust Your leadership more than my own strength. In Jesus’ name, amen.
